Over the past several months I have been writing on employment issues, however after reading about Darrie Eason's story in New York I felt compelled to comment on it. President Bush's ongoing efforts at reforming the nation's tort system are an embarrassment to himself and his administration. While placing caps on medical malpractice jury awards may result in a temporary abatement of malpractice rate increases, and possibly even a short term reduction in rates charged to doctors, once the issue is behind the President and the attention span of the American people, insurance rates will once again rise like the Phoenix.
